Prairie dogs, although not often thought of as a pet due to their naturally skittish nature, can actually make a great pet for people looking for an unusual animal companion.

As long as prairie dogs are trained from a young age to be around humans and be handled by them, they can be quite affectionate. In fact, these animals can become very loving, and will enjoy as much attention as you can lavish on them.
